Even today, many tribes throughout the country are not recognized by the Federal Government. We have discovered that there are over two-hundred (200) un-recognized tribes. Although many tribes have state recognition, they strive to attain Federal Recognition. Over seven (7) tribes alone in Virginia are fighting for their recognition.

It is our mission to educate the common person on this issue of Tribal Recognition. We feel adamant about this issue and strive to attain a higher knowledge of the topic.

Amoung the focus of our project is the unrecognized tribes of Virginia. The currently seven (7) unrecognized tribes of Virginia include:

1. Chickahominy Indian Tribe

2. E. Chickahominy Indian Tribe

3. Monacan Indian Tribe

4. Nansemond Indian Tribal Association

5. Pamunkey Nation

6. Upper Mataponi Tribe

7. United Rappahannock Tribe
